FAQ for HP Replacement Cartridges
After installing the cartridge, the following error message: “Non-HP Ink” or “Non-HP Cartridges Installed” may appear.
To remove it, press “Proceed”, “Continue” or “OK” and then resume the printing process.
Option 1
Remove and reinstall indicated cartridge until it firmly seats into the slot.
Option 2
If all the cartridges are installed properly, press “OK” or “Continue” to clear the message, and resume printing.
Option 1
Visit the official HP website and choose Support -> Software and Drivers -> Printers.
Then select your printer model. When the download page appears, choose “Firmware” and download the latest one.
When the installation is completed, the cartridges should be recognized by the printer.
Option 2
Turn off the printer and inspect the internal side of the carriage for visible damage to the contact pins. If one (or more)
of the contact pins is slightly bent, repair it with the tool until the pin is easily connected to the cartridge chip. Then gently,
with a dry lint-free cloth, wipe the contacts on the cartridge and carriage to remove any dirt or residue that has built up
during use. Replace the cartridge, turn on the printer and resume printing.
Option 1
The most frequent reason for poor print quality is a clogged printhead, which occurs because of different types of ink
used in the past. In this case, run the printhead clearing cycle 2-5 times to clear out all the dried ink. The feature is
accessible through your printer settings: Settings -> Tools or Services at your printer.
Option 2
If the ink cartridges are replaced after the cleaning cycles and the print quality has not improved, printhead failure may
be the root cause. In this case, contact the printer maintenance service for further instructions.
Turn on the printer and open the cartridge access door. Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue. Press down on the old ink cartridge and remove it from the carriage.
FAQ for Canon Replacement Cartridges
After installing the cartridge, you may get the following error message: “Non-Original Ink”. To remove this error message,
press Resume, Stop/Reset or Start button and then you can resume the printing process.
Option 1
Hold down the Stop button for 5 seconds to clear the message, and resume printing.
Option 2
Remove the cartridges, and unplug your printer from the power socket for at least 30 seconds. Then plug the printer black in,
switch it on and re-insert ink cartridges until they are firmly seated into the slot. Your printer may still display “Low/Empty ink”
level after this process, but you can press “Continue” or “OK” to resume the printing process.
Option 1 (If your printer is reporting that only one cartridge has the error)
Turn off the printer and inspect the internal side of the carriage for visible damage to the contact pins. If one (or more) of the contact pins is slightly bent, repair it with the tool until the pin is easily connected to the cartridge chip. Then gently, with a dry lint-free cloth, wipe the contacts on the cartridge and carriage to remove any dirt or residue that has built up during use.
Replace the cartridge, turn on the printer and resume printing.
Option 2 (If your printer is reporting errors across the whole set)
If you replaced ink cartridge and the printer shows errors across the whole set, check the compatibility of cartridges since the wrong ink will return an error. After checking for cartridge compatibility, determine which cartridge caused the issue.
Remove all Smart Ink cartridges, re-install the old (empty) cartridges you used before and restart the printer.
Install one of the Smart Ink cartridges, and keep installing new cartridges one-by-one until the error returns. When the problem cartridge is detected, refer to Option 1 to remove the error message.

Using compatible/remanufactured cartridges will not void your printer warranty. Federal law prohibits any company from requiring you to purchase only its products and prohibits a manufacturer from voiding your printer`s warranty due to usage of alternative cartridges (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act).
